3D LASER SCANNING
The greatest advantage of laser scanning measurements compared to traditional measurement techniques is that 3D object geometry can be obtained directly, quickly and in detail. Other advantages are as follows:
- There is a significant reduction in business expenses, and projects are completed much faster.
- It allows to measure very distant, complex or damaged objects.
- The data are highly independent of ambient lighting.
- The scanning procedure is thorough and comprehensive, so everything in the field can be measured. Therefore, if new data is needed, there is no need to go back to the field.
- Data can be used for multiple purposes now and in the future.
CONSERVATION OF HISTORICAL
– CULTURAL HERITAGE
Historic buildings, statues or monuments need to be maintained and often restored. Many of these structures are architecturally unique. It is therefore necessary to obtain 360° images and 3D documentation of existing conditions prior to restoration in order to have a permanent record of the building or structure.
As Geo-Mat3D, we provide a full range of digital surveying products (outputs) while working on cultural/historical heritage conservation projects, including:
- 3D Point Cloud: Used as an archival, digital survey record of an existing structure,
- Using orthophoto images derived from the 3D point cloud, 2D floor plans, cutaways and views are obtained, and
- 3D Models of objects and historical structures are created.
The 3D point clouds produced by Geo-Mat3D can be used to provide a wide variety of documentation in restoration and maintenance projects of historical buildings.
Historic Building Facade Orthophoto View
Orthophotos are presented in different display formats. The outer contours of the structure are clarified, thus providing a more suitable data for the drawing.
All details of a building can be seen using high resolution images.

Historical/Cultural Heritage structures may be irregularly shaped. With the other measuring devices, it is not possible to measure structures that do not have a regular geometric shape. With 3D Laser Scanning, very precise and accurate 3D geometric data including the entire structure are obtained.
The different display formats make the structure easier to understand and constitute a very useful base for restoration projects.
All details of structures are clearly visible with colored Point Clouds.

STRUCTURE DEFORMATION
Point clouds provide the most detailed geometric data of a measured object. Deformed surfaces, floors or structures are precisely detected from point cloud data.
Deformed concrete block surfaces and ground cover.
IN SHIP BODY
Detection of deformation in ship body for the ships taken into maintenance is performed very effectively and quickly with 3D Laser Scanning.
Modeling: Point clouds are quickly converted into 3D models using a variety of techniques and software. Model objects can be viewed and processed in a wide variety of software.

3D Models generated from point clouds are supplied to professionals working in many different fields.
SURVEY
Point clouds are obtained in the scanner-centered coordinate system (local coordinate system). If the data obtained is requested to be delivered in a certain coordinate system such as the national coordinate system, integrated measuring techniques become involved.
Geodetical Surveying is an integrated measurement technique used for coordinate transformation. Point clouds are provided in the desired coordinate system with precise geodetic measurements and coordinate calculation processes to be made in the survey area.
However, geodetic survey data can be used for complement and support point cloud data.
